Part 61 ASEL Private Pilot License

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 17 years of age.
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Hold a U.S. Student Pilot, Sport Pilot, or Recreational Pilot certificate.
  • Pass the knowledge test within the preceding 24 calendar months of the practical test.
  • Meet the aeronautical experience requirements.
  • Obtain the appropriate logbook endorsements from an authorized instructor.
  • Comply with 14 CFR 61.39 (Prerequisites for Practical Tests), which requires:
    • At least a 3rd Class Medical certificate is required to take the practical test if a medical certificate is required.
    • A review of the knowledge test deficiencies by an authorized instructor.
    • Logged training time in preparation for the practical test within the preceding two calendar months.
    • A completed and signed application form (IACRA)

Pass a practical test.

PPL Cost (Minimum Course Hours)

  • 40 Hours Flight Time + 30 Hours Flight Instruction: $8,260.00

Additional Costs

  • Airman Knowledge Test (Paid directly to the testing center): $175.00
  • FAA Medical Certificate Third Class (Paid directly to doctor): $150.00
  • Practical test fee (Paid directly to examiner): $700.00 to $1,000.00
  • Ground Instruction per hour (As needed): $50.00

Part 61 Instrument Rating

Eligibility Requirements

Part 61 ASEL Commercial Pilot License

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold at least a current private pilot certificate or be concurrently applying for a private pilot certificate with an airplane rating.
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Pass the knowledge test within the preceding 24 calendar months of the practical test.
  • Meet the aeronautical experience requirements.
  • Obtain the appropriate logbook endorsements from an authorized instructor.
  • Comply with 14 CFR 61.39 (Prerequisites for Practical Tests), which requires:
    • At least a 3rd Class Medical certificate is required to take the practical test if a medical certificate is required.

Part 61 ASEL Certified Flight Instructor

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold at least a current private pilot certificate or be concurrently applying for a private pilot certificate with an airplane rating.
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Pass the knowledge test within the preceding 24 calendar months of the practical test.
  • Meet the aeronautical experience requirements.

Part 61 ASEL Certified Flight Instructor Instrument

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold either a commercial pilot certificate or airline transport pilot certificate and an instrument rating.
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Pass the knowledge tests (FOI & Aeronautical Knowledge) within the preceding 24 calendar months of the practical test.
  • Meet the aeronautical experience requirements.
  • Obtain the appropriate logbook endorsements from an authorized instructor.
  • Comply with 14 CFR 61.39 (Prerequisites for Practical Tests), which requires:
    • At least a 3rd Class Medical certificate is required to take the practical test if a medical certificate is required.
    • A review of the knowledge test deficiencies by an authorized instructor.
    • A completed and signed application form (IACRA)
  • Pass a practical test.

CFII Cost (Minimum Course Hours)

  • 15 Hours Flight Time + 15 Hours Flight Instruction: $3,285.00
